Absolutely the BEST family-owned bakery! Patty, Philip, and Bethany are always outstanding and accommodating! This was the first place my now husband and I went to do a cake tasting for our wedding. I am not a cake lover and so I was not excited to do tastings. After my first bite, we put our deposit down. I have referred so many people to this place because of the work they do and customer service they offer. Trust me, you will not be let down with any option on their menu.

This place is every bit as good as the reviews say it is.
I have been here twice in about a week and I’m kicking myself for not having known about this place before especially since I work nearby.
I have only ordered cupcakes from here and the Red Velvet with creme cheese mousse is the best I have had. Now I just saw that they are offering a pumpkin cupcake, can’t wait to try it.
Bottom line, place your order and be prepared to have your taste buds thank you.

In a word… Delicious. We ordered two types of cupcakes for our wedding… red velvet filled with a vanilla whip, topped with buttercream AND white cake filled with Bavarian crème, topped with a vanilla whip. My favorite thing about their cakes is that they don’t use fondant. No stiff flavorless topping, just a delicious whipped delight. My guest still raves over how good my cupcakes were. Highly recommend and would definitely use them again!

I visited this bakery a week ago. Upon arriving the entire interior was so cute and had great displays. They have pictures of the cupcakes on the wall, which was cool cause once you order the lovely women who helped me (I didn’t catch her name) let me know that once ordered the cupcakes get frosted. It didn’t take long for 4 cupcakes to be frosted. Which was awesome. The cupcakes themselves were real cute. And the taste was AMAZING. The frosting was fluffy. And so was the cake. Nothing was too overwhelming which was a delight. Definitely going back. It’s a plus they close later than most bakeries.

Heaven surrounded by a paper cup – the cupcakes are incredible!!! You can taste the freshness, as they are frosted to order. Only takes two minutes. My favorite is white cake with coconut. Plus, they are packaged in an impressive box, so they don’t topple over. What a great gift, a dozen cupcakes with your choice of cake and frosting. The cakes are so awesome, nothing is ever frozen, all is freshly baked, and you can taste the huge difference. Everything is reasonably priced, and such a clean, beautiful store. They also do special orders for birthdays, weddings, etc. This is my new hangout, love this bakery, also with such a super friendly, fabulous staff.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wait, one more WOW!!! We heard of Patty Cakes through The Knot. Since it’s nearby, we made a pit stop to check it out. We fell in love with the Chocolate Peanut Butter mixture. By the way, you can just about build whatever you want. Anyway, this cake was beyond belief delicious. What made us feel better about Patty Cakes, however, is that we saw how it has been made mention of on local television. So, to say that we highly recommend this specialty bakery is an understatement. It’s a must.

I had a last minute idea to get a German Chocolate cake for my brother’s 40th bday – called on a Tuesday evening, and was lucky to be able to order a cake. Had I waited 10 more mins I wouldn’t have been able to get a cake. Thank you Patty for taking my order that night! We all loved it! This is my favorite cupcake place around. The cake is light and the frostings are amazing. Today I had the PB and J cupcake. They are not too sweet. Yet sweet enough. I would definitely recommend them. When you walk in you do not see any cupcakes. It is a little confusing at first. But they frost them all to order so they are super fresh.

I decided to try out Patty’s Cakes because of great reviews, even though my wedding was is San Juan Capistrano. They’ve really made the process as simple and efficient as it can get… from scheduling a free tasting online to order, and it was boxed and ready on time for pickup. We went with a white (vanilla) cake with vanilla custard and raspberry filling. The cake tasted great and looked gorgeous! Our planner dressed it up with eucalyptus and flowers. Some friends brought me 2 cupcakes in a cute, pink box with a “free cupcake for a review” card on it! They bought me 2 vanilla cupcakes — one with strawberry, whipped frosting and the other with a chocolate fudge type of topping. The strawberry was fine (I’m not really into sweets and it was a very sweet flavor, not tart at all, so that’s just my taste). The cake is slightly crumbly, but really good sponge to it anyway. The chocolate topping was serious chocolate. I don’t usually like frosting or fudge, but this was tasty! So smooth with great flavor. Although, I really enjoy good cake (not frosting) and these had a slightly tipped scale toward frosting rather than cake. Not my cuppa, but personal taste yet again. Loved getting them as a treat from friends!

We have a special fondness for cupcakes at home and work. Have been to lots of different places in north OC, and Patty’s cakes are definitely the most flavorful and moist. We had the chocolate layer cake with chocolate chip mousse filling, the chocolate- caramel salty cupcake, and the chocolate-peanut butter mousse cupcake on our last outing there. After extensive taste testing of cupcakes in the greater OC area, we are ordering our wedding cupcakes from Patty’s Cakes. Seriously, neither of us likes cake, so when we started talking about wedding cakes, I was like… meh. I don’t like the look, the taste is usually subpar, and you seem to sacrifice flavor for some fancy look that you eventually eat. But cupcakes! That’s a cute morsel that I can get behind. The trick is to find cupcakes that aren’t dry and a baker that will work with you on multiple dozens. Enter Patty’s Cakes! Great flavors – our favorites are the Lemon Drop and the Peanut Butter Mousse. So good! So, if you are looking for cupcakes for a party or wedding, give them a try.

Patty’s did my daughter’s first birthday cake and smash cake! The cake was pricey at $218 (for 2 tier that feeds 50) + $10 for the smash cake, and we added the cake toppers. It was a bit challenging trying to explain the design we wanted (I eventually ended up doing a detailed hand drawing for them to copy!), and they were very strict about sticking to an existing piping design on their website (nothing new/custom), but in the end the cake turned out beautifully and tasted AMAZING. I would go back for the cake taste, more than the design capabilities, but we were very happy overall.

“Soooo good!” That’s what we said at our cake tasting and what our guests said at our wedding. After going through her cake photo album online, I found “the cake” and made an appointment for a tasting. Our tasting was so intimate, no distractions, complete focus on us, it was great. After showing Patty, yes the owner was doing our tasting, the style we liked, she brought our different flavors. My fiancé at the time requested a red velvet cake with cream cheese cake frosting. We tasted a lot of red velvet cakes at other tastings, but there was no denying this was the very best. Not only was the cake super moist, but it didn’t taste like dye. It was very light and airy, unlike the dense ones before, and the frosting was not a heavy buttercream, but rather a whipped, light frosting. We loved it so much that we couldn’t wait for the wedding to taste it again so we grabbed some red velvet cupcakes shortly before the wedding. Patty suggested bringing some of the orchids I would be using in my wedding to her so they could be placed on the cake, and I’m glad she did because it looked gorgeous. After tasting her cakes, there will be no contest! Thank you, Patty!

What we find outstanding about Patty’s cakes is that they made our wedding cake absolutely gorgeous and delicious. We chose them because they specialize in designing their cakes without fondant. Don’t get us wrong, we do like how fondant could make a cake look very neat but we believe fondant takes away flavor with the taste and unnatural feel of hardened sugar coating. Patty was able to find the balance of making her cakes look beautiful and keep the taste extraordinary.
Working with Patty was simple as can be. She was easy to communicate to through phone and email. The only difficulty was choosing from the different flavors of cake, filling, and icing! There were so many combinations that paired nicely. Taste testing was an enjoyable experience and a nice break from the stress of planning others parts of the wedding. Definitely treat yourself to a cake taste testing at Patty’s.
