It was a week ago 10/20/14 that I walked into Patty’s Cakes with the intention of getting a Birthday cake for my wife that would have a *wow* factor. I’ve read all the reviews and looked at all the pictures on Yelp for Patty’s cakes and I have to say I was impressed. I walked into the bakery and instantly the reality show *Cake Boss* went through my mind. That’s right I was going in for a *cake consultation* not with Buddy Valastro of *Cake Boss* but with Kori of Patty’s Cakes. I was at a loss for words; I didn’t know there was so many factors that go into a cake. Round, square, fancy, plain, quarter sheet, half sheet, butter cream, ganache. The list goes on and on. Thankfully Kori helped me to navigate through all the * cake lingo*. Basic questions that Kori asked me: how many people is it going to serve? 8-10 people, what’s your wife’s favorite cake?Red velvet
What cartoon character or what is she interested in? Hello Kitty. After the basics were established we went onto the good ol internet to select a Hello Kitty image that would represent Halloween and birthday. It seemed like I spent an eternity at Pattys cake that day trying to pick out the perfect hello kitty image. Throughout the whole time, Kori was very patient and very understanding to a cake *newbie* like myself. In the end it was all worth it to see the reaction my wife and her coworkers had when her cake was revealed to her today on her B Day. Thank You so Much Kori and Pattys cakes for making this day memorable.

I had such a difficult time finding this place OMG you cannot see it from the street at all. It’s actually facing CHAPMAN, not RAYMOND Ave.! It’s on the corner of Raymond/Chapman so just turn into the plaza, it’s a very tiny place. I’m really in love with the chocolate fudge frosting WOW. That’s the only reason why I gave it 4 stars lol. But what I don’t like is that there is no display of cupcakes. They do have photos. I guess they rather make it as you order it so they don’t waste cupcakes and also they won’t run out of one flavor. I am just used to looking at the cupcakes and picking out which ones look good. So it was a little odd for me but the photos on the wall help.
They do offer gluten-free cupcakes. They have typical flavors like chocolate cake or vanilla cake and you pick your frosting. Another thing I do not like is the cream filling. Most people might like it but honestly, there’s way more than enough frosting on top and in the middle more cream. I feel like I barely had enough cake, just a ton of sweetness. Customer service is okay but they aren’t that welcoming, just stare at you until you order. That kind of people makes me feel so awkward lol. Cupcakes were good though. Average price is $3.50. They come in cute pink boxes. I think if you buy 3, you get 1 free with the Yelp check-in if they are still offering the deal. I’m not going back though for a very long time because I have bought enough cupcakes for now.
I do prefer Hapa Cupcakes because the owners are super nice and they always remember me, they know what I like and I just feel more special there lol. But definitely worth checking out here too. I read that they make good cakes for weddings and such. They do have a tiny table here in case you can’t wait to eat your cupcakes like me. They have water too. BTW, the gluten-free cupcake tasted just as good, I really couldn’t tell the difference at all. If you’re a chocolate lover, you definitely want to try out their chocolate fudge cupcake. Yum yum.
Thanks for reading! :)

[Review] I can’t say enough great things about Patty’s cakes!

I can’t say enough great things about Patty’s cakes! I brought in a photo of a 1st
birthday cake I found on Pinterest, it actually turned out BETTER than the sample I
brought in. Not only was the cake absolutely stunning, everyone raved about how
gorgeous it was, it was absolutely delicious. I’ve been to the other “upscale”
cake shops in the area, and I will only be getting our special occasion cakes from
Patty’s from now on! Oh, and their cake pops are amazing too! Especially the
s’mores one.

My husband is working near the shop and stopped in to get some GF cupcakes. He got
four in different flavors and we quarter them and taste tested. My son (6) loved
the chocolate chip, my husband and I liked the chocolate with chocolate fudge the
best. My daughter ( 3) liked them all. The variety was awesome, cakes were luscious
and we were happy campers. We will totally be back. I have been GF for three years
now (health reasons) and it’s hard to find good GF sweets. These are wonderful,
thank you Patty!
[Review] I plan events for a living and this place is great!!!

I plan events for a living and I enjoy finding new businesses that are local that give a great value. Patty’s Cakes are amazing and the flavor selection is un beatable. They make the cupcakes fresh and you might wait a minute or two but it is worth your time. I have found my new favorite place and will volunteer to bring desserts just so I can go to Patty’s Cakes.
I have tried many of their flavors: Lemon, Salty Chocolate, Butter Pecan, Neapolitan, Red Velvet and going back for more.
Having Gluten Free options is great. Many clients and family members are asking for Gluten Free and they have a large selection of flavors that are Gluten Free.
The staff is extremely friendly and when you go into the store, it feels like family behind the counter. You have to try it for yourself. My review doesn’t do it justice.

Patty’s Cakes baked our cakes for our wedding day and it was probably my favorite part of the
wedding (besides marrying my husband, but of course) We live close by and I found the bakery
through Yelp and just decided since it was so close I’d pop by and see what would happen. We
made an appointment to cake test and Patty helped us that day. She was very lovely and helpful
and kind and just what you would expect from somebody who is around yummy sweets all day
long-HAPPY! Cake testing was by far the best part of wedding planning. In the end, we went
with 4 2-layer cakes with each cake decorated slightly differently and tasting different. Our
flavors were…marble chocolate and vanilla cake with a chocolate chip frosting center, red
velvet with a cream cheese mousse center, lemon cake with a raspberry and Bavarian cream
center, and finally a coconut cake with a pineapple mousse with the outside of this cake being
covered in shredded coconut. I literally dream about these cakes. The prices were unbelievable
and unbeatable besides the quality which was TOP-NOTCH-moist, not too sweet but sweet and
perfect (hi, my whole mouth is full of sweet teeth). My husband and I have different sweet
tastes and Patty’s Cakes was a perfect blend of exactly what we wanted. I couldn’t wait to eat
our cakes so just about every week until my wedding I went to Patty’s Cakes and ordered
cupcakes to eat on my cheat days. That’s how much I LOVE their cupcakes, icing, service,
EVERYTHING! So, our wedding was on a Sunday and they don’t work on Sundays but they did open
their store for my husband to pick up the cakes and no muss no fuss. The cakes arrived
perfectly and were set up exactly to my dream vision. Now imagine this-right before our
sparkler exit while everyone was outside lighting their sparklers, my husband and I went
through the tables and literally gorged our faces with any cake that was left on anyones
plate-literally like crazed, starved animals. True story. So 5 months after eating our amazing
cakes, I still go pretty often because I’m pregnant now and my baby wants cupcakes and she/he
knows whats good and what kind of mother would I be to deprive my child? Anyways, don’t mind
my sidetracks, just GO TO PATTY’S CAKES for any cake needs but especially to brides and grooms
looking for literally the best cakes I’ve ever tasted in my life

I ordered cupcakes for my wedding instead of the traditional wedding cake. Because I got married in October, I chose pumpkin, chocolate, and vanilla as my flavors. I had a large wedding, so I ordered about 175 cupcakes. The cupcakes were amazing, and most importantly they were moist and fresh. My guest enjoyed them and were even asking me the following day if I had any left over cupcakes. Patty is so nice, and she was honest with me with any questions or issues I had. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Cupcakes are so moist and fluffy !!
Got the vanilla on vanilla (ordered a box of cupcakes for my boss daughters bday) but that’s all I tried & it was delicious. I’m not a huge cupcake fan nor am I one to go out of my way for one but I will definitely be coming back here when I have a cupcake craving. Their frosting was perfect too! Not too sweet, not too thick and sugary, but just right!
