[Review] Whoever invented cake balls is AMAZING!

Rho L. - Chino Hills, CA - 4 Star rating via Yelp

First of all, whoever invented cakeballs needs to be given some sort of awesomeness award. I mean just the improved icing to cake ratio should be reason enough!

So a little bit of history, my first review of Patty’s years ago was just so so. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t horrible, just straddling that middle line.

Fast forward to yesterday, my friend’s baby shower where she had a platter of red velvet and smores? rocky road? cake balls as well as PB&J, and strawberry chocolate (?) mini cupcakes laid out amongst a bevy of other desserts. At the time, I didn’t know these had come from Patty’s, but they did look quite appetizing.

Upon approaching that table, the first thing I went for was the PB&J cupcake. I mean, you can’t go wrong with PB&J anything. Right at that first bite, my nod of approval was instantaneous. Wow, i wish these weren’t so mini-sized! Everything about it was just right.

Eventually, I got suckered into “going halfsies” on the red velvet cake ball which unfortunately, wasn’t too pronounced in “red velvety-ness” but still a worthy bite nonetheless. Generally I tend to shy away from overchocolatey pastries because they can be a bit too rich for my palate, but this particular one wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet. It had a bittersweetness to it which I appreciated.

Then it hit me, I still didn’t know which bakery these had originated and that’s just not proper! So earlier this morning, i asked my friend who then sent me a yelp link. I clicked on the link and was shocked to see “Update My Review”. I was surprised cause surely I’d remember cupcakes and cake balls like these. It wasn’t until I read my old review that I realized which bakery this was!

Wow, very much improved from my first Patty’s experience. I really was impressed and in awe even.

3. they tasted amazing! super moist and rich but not too sweet!
4. cupcakes were ready to go as promised pick up time!
5. every staff was friendly and always smiling!

[Review] I don’t feel bad about eating cupcakes from here!

Jackie N. - Irvine, CA - via Google Reviews

Amazingly, I don’t feel bad about eating cupcakes from here!

They are technically made to order here. I think they only stuff the cupcakes and top them when someone orders. At least I sure hope so since they make you wait a while and there’s not cupcakes in the front or a display case (only for the cake balls).

Staff: friendly and helpful; one of them is kinda impatient though.

All the cupcakes are very airy and light, like a little delicious sweet cloud of yumminess! The cake itself does not feel dense or overbearing and the mousse is just a light touch of flavor added on.

My favorites: White Cake Ball, Banana Split, White with White, and Neopolitan.

Highly recommend ordering ahead if you can.

Ever since I was diagnosed with Celiac disease I have been on a mission to find a really good cupcake. Patty’s Cakes fulfilled that mission! The chocolate gluten free cupcake with chocolate frosting exceeded my expectations! It was delicious, and the chocolate icing was the best I have ever tasted! Thank you Patty’s Cakes for giving me a little piece of gluten free heaven!!!

[Review] 32 Standard flavors!

Raymond L. - Irvine, CA - via Google Reviews

32 Standard flavors!
That’s more than Baskin Robbins :P

Sigh. The yelp offer half lied to me.
It was buy 3 get 1 free cupcakes :(

I only bought 1. The eclair, which had tons of flavor in the frosting and the cupcake was moist, but there was something missing from its neighbor, Hapa cupcakes. But they have a way better variety. WAYYY better.
They’re both way better than the ones you and I could make.

They do take some time to get your cupcake, which I may suspect is because they make the bottom pre-made and the top is where its made-to-order. The lady was also kind enough to include a B1G1 free card in the box of the one cupcake I had.

OH YEAH some cupcakes are GLUTEN FREE AS WELL~

[Review] Professional & very friendly staff

Ty D. - Carson, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Best cupcakes ever!! I ordered cupcakes here for my engagement party, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Professional & very friendly staff. I’m a sucker for anything lemon, and their *lemon drop* cupcake was Delish!!! They nailed it by adding an old school lemon head in the center. Very cute addition. You will not be disappointed.

Gabriela L. - Garden Grove, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Everything looked amazing and we got so many compliments on our cupcakes! Our guests enjoyed the various flavors (The Butter Pecan went pretty quickly in the night) and my husband and I had The Elvis made into a small 6inch cake for just the two of us! Thank you Patty’s Cakes!

[Review] Fatty Friday nights!!!

Lisa D. - Fountain Valley, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

It takes a lot of willpower to drive past this place and not pop in. But for my waistline’s sake I do it. On one fatty friday night, the bf and I went here for the first time. We got the butter pecan and chocolate salted caramel cupcakes. Delectable flavors but most importantly, moist moist moist!!!

[Review] Gluten free cupcakes!!!

Dan N. - Brea, CA - 4 Star rating via Yelp

Found Patty’s Cakes by searching for a nearby bakery with gluten-free cupcakes for our daughter’s 2nd birthday. We got her a vanilla cupcake with strawberry frosting, and she LOVED it. She’s not really a sugary frosting type of kid, and Patty’s Cakes knows how to make delicious “just right” frosting. My wife and I sampled a bunch of others too. My fav was the mint chocolate chip, hers was the lemon. 4 stars only because the cake portion of the cupcake was good, but not off-the-charts great like we’ve had at just a couple other cupcake specialty shops. Great customer service, good buying experience, we will definitely be coming back.
