[Review] I really enjoyed the red velvet cake balls

Jonathan Z. - Orange, Ca - 4 Star rating via Yelp

Patty’s Cakes and Desserts is an inviting place to be. They offer tea and lemon flavored water as you browse their selection of desserts. If you’re going to order a dozen or more items, you should probably call in your order. Otherwise, you could just choose from the items they have in the case.

I’ve had their cupcakes. They were good (especially the Elvis: banana, peanut butter, and bacon), but I’m partial to their cake balls. I really enjoyed the red velvet, but they were all great. They look as good as they taste.

[Review] Red velvet cake balls for my birthday, delish!

linkslilfairy - Orange County, CA - 5 Star rating via Google Reviews

A friend bought some red velvet cake balls from this place for my birthday. I had no idea what a cake ball was, but boy was it delish! Red velvet dipped in white chocolate. Yummy and super cute too.

[Review] High quality ingredients, love, and care go into these cake balls

Nick H. - Anaheim, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

*****************OMGOSH!* *************************

Jerry Lee Lewis and ACDC!
What do they have in common with Patty Cakes? Yup, BALLS BALLS BALLS!
Who has the biggest great balls of fire? Patty Does!!

I will make this short and to the point.

~Cupcakes-(4 Stars)
Just my preference. I love the cakes. Great cakes. I am just not a fan of soft frosting. These are good cupcakes..just my preference. They have several choices. I had the Elvis (banana, peanut butter, bacon.) and a butter cream apple.

My little princess said her two favs were the same as mine, Smores and Chocolate Cake Balls.

~CAKE BALLS! (4.5 Stars)
TRY THESE
High quality ingredients, love, and care go into these balls of fire.

SMORES (5 Stars): This one is the best. Firm casing and the softest and most moist cake ever in the inside. Perfectly textured. Perfectly created. 5 Stars.

Chocolate (5 Stars)-A close second. A definite for chocolate lovers. Darn Good!

Lemon (4 Stars)
Vibrant flavor. Same perfectly textured casing as the others with a very moist cake on the inside. 4 Stars.

Red Velvet (4 Stars)
Red Velvet is not my favorite in general. The cake ball here, however, makes me a fan. Unbelievably created.

Chocolate Chip-(3 Stars)
My least favorite. The taste wasn’t there for me and the cake was dry.

*****Bonus! ******
They make specialty cake balls for special occasions (Like Easter). You can call in orders. The place is cute and perfect for little girls. Everything is pink. They also sell hand made cards. Buy three cupcakes + mention yelp and get a free cupcake. Adding an additional half star for these great bonuses.  Rounding up to 5 Stars!

Patty Cake’s is in the corner next to Albertsons and the cleaners on the corner of Commonwealth and Raymond. I couldn’t find it at first.

4.5 Stars and rounding up!

Patty’s Cakes..Yup in the OC…another reason the OC is the best place to live!

[Review] Red velvet cake balls, Delicious!

Ali - Orange County, CA - 5 Star rating via Google Reviews

Delicious! The red velvet cake balls looked so appealing in the ad that we just HAD to try them! We ordered them for 2 birthday celebrations in consecutive months and everyone just devoured their cake balls. My husband became known as the red velvet cake ball guy. We can’t wait to try different ones!

[Review] I Purchased 12 Assorted Cake Balls For My Grandson’s 10th Birthday. They Rocked

Patty B. - Orange, CA - 4 Star rating via Yelp

Used a ‘groupon coupon’ for Patty’s to purchase 12 assorted cake balls for my grandson’s 10th birthday – lemon, german chocolate, s’mores and red velvet. I personally got to taste a bite of all but the lemon. And they rocked. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised at the truffle-like content of the cakeballs. Very original creation! I do have to admit when my husband got home with the box of 12 cakeballs, I was a little disappointed at the size of them, but since they are so dense and rich, I see why they are sized as such. Any way, now I cannot wait to get back to Patty’s to try some of the other treats on the menu.

[Review] Cake Balls: The Taste Is Out Of This World!

Michelle Y. - Placentia, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Red velvet cake balls, anyone???  We used to live a block away from this place but moved 15 minutes away about 7 years ago.

We were finally introduced to it through http://www.groupon.com/deals/pattys-cakes-desserts and have been addicted ever since!

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I wasn’t crazy about the mushy cake ball texture.  The taste is, though, is out of this world!  They’re so beautiful, too!

[Review] The Red Velvet Cake Balls Are The Bomb

“The red velvet cake balls are the bomb.”

[Review] Cake balls: Man, Those Little Treats Were Impressive!

Kim N. - Fullerton, CA - 4 Star rating via Yelp

“I really want to give Patty’s 4.5 stars. Here’s the thing – I ordered one of their pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes. I would love to tell you all to go get one, but they are seasonal and I got one from the last batch that they made. So, unfortunately, you are now out of luck because it was REALLY good. My only complaint was that they fill the center of the cupcake with more frosting. I am sure that many of you are now thinking, “So? What the hell is wrong with MORE frosting?” And okay, yes, frosting is delicious. But when the cupcake is that good, I really would prefer to just have the frosting on top and enjoy having the proper amount of cake. The only time most bakers put frosting in the middle is to hide the fact that the cake part isn’t that good or that it is dry. Neither of those were the case at Patty’s, so I was sad to not have more cake.

I then ordered a dozen cake balls for a little New Year’s Eve get together with friends. Man, those little treats were impressive! They looked gorgeous and were delicious. Again – one little complaint: the cake balls were almost TOO moist. Yeah, weird, but it was almost like they were a little gummy and could have stayed in the oven for one more minute. I had two left over and they were a little better when eaten the next day. But boy, were they tasty! We had red velvet, chocolate chip, german chocolate, s’mores, and lemon – all were delicious and adorably prepared.

Both the cupcakes and the cake balls are $3 each. That is just a tiny bit pricey to me, considering that half the cupcake is really frosting and the cake balls are so small. But, I will definitely be back and look forward to getting a BD cake here for my husband. Oh yeah, and the service here is really friendly – love that!”

“Update – 1/19/2011  I hereby recant my criticism about Patty’s Cakes filling their cupcakes with frosting. I think that the first one I had just happened to have more than usual, but a couple I have had since then just had a little filling in them, which was a nice touch. And I think that most of the time, the cupcakes have a different filling in them – not the same frosting as what is on top. I just had a delectable lemon cupcake that had a great taste – not too sweet or too tart. It had a little bit of cream filling inside and lemon curd on top. Everything was in perfect balance. The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate fudge frosting had vanilla cream inside. So, I am on-board with the cupcake-filling-situation.”

[Review] The Cakeballs Were Sweet, Pretty Sweet, but Not Overtly Sweet.

Angela T. - Garden Grove, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Red velvet cake balls, mmm yummy!

Yesterday was my annual get together with my high school friends, it’s our traditional Christmas dinner.  One of them brought a dozen of these sweets.  I tried a bit of the red velvet and a banana one.  It was sweet, pretty sweet, but not overtly sweet.  It kind of tasted like batter, but I liked it a lot.  I really want to try the cupcakes next. Not only are these cake balls cool to look at, they have different designs on it.  I love the creativity and shall check out this shop when I’m in the area.”
