Patty’s cakes made the cake for our wedding!!!
We hadn’t heard of Patty’s Cakes before but we were referred to them by our venue and oh boy am I glad we used them.
Our wedding was a bit of a challenge because we had a lot of guests with dietary restrictions. I myself have Celiac, while my wife does not and they were more than happy to accommodate us.
First though, I want to describe the tasting experience. They brought out gluten free cupcakes and gave us tastings of all the different possible combinations, to find the perfect match. It was a LOT of fun. They also had a book with all the different ways they could finish our cake and give it the look we wanted.
Initially we were going to make the whole cake gluten-free, because I was worried that was the only way to keep the cake safe for me and the other 5 guests that all had Celiac. Ultimately however we found that the gluten free cake couldn’t structurally support a cake of the size we needed, so we decided to make only the top gluten-free. They handled it with such care though, none of us had any reaction whatsoever. I don’t even understand how that’s possible! I guess they were just really careful!
The cake was DELICIOUS! The cake itself was rich and moist, while the frosting was unbelievably light and airy. It’s almost more like a whipped cream in terms of density than a traditional frosting. This was absolutely perfect for a wedding! It wasn’t as heavy as other cakes I have had before.
We also got a great arrangement of cookies and cupcakes, including vegan cupcakes for our guests that were vegan.
Oh and the kicker? Instead of having to freeze the top layer to eat a year later, which is apparently tradition. We didn’t have to worry about that because they included a free cake one year from our wedding! What other bakery have you heard of that does something like that!?!? This is such a great idea!!
